The intent of this blog is to promote human equality, human progress, human peace and justice, and optimism. To accomplish this, to encourage the discussion of ideas after identifying and discovering problems, and then creating positive solutions for "we the people," in order to provide for the "general welfare" and "domestic tranquility" of America now and its "posterity" into the future. To encourage an emphasis on separation of religion and state for all, no matter if this is for those "of faith" in a Maker / Creator (Deists, God-loving people, Christians, various people of spirituality) and atheists or agnostics.

  1. Some thoughts today, Feb. 10, 2011.

The Palm Beach Post describes Rick Scott, supported only by barely 50% of the people dictating how education should be run in Florida. His assistant believes the state should rid itself of “bad teachers.” Tell me. What IS a bad teacher? Is it the one who partied all day in the classroom and left in disgust to make millions in Amway and join forces with Rick Scott to condemn education? Is the “bad teacher” the one in Palm Beach County who spoke out by writing a letter to the Post decrying the acts of passing little children along in school before they are ready? Is a “bad teacher” the unpopular ones? What do the Rick Scott goons think is a bad teacher? For with home schooling and no teacher around, I know there are problems with that, too. There are always some type of problem, but that does not mean we need to pull a Rick Scott, steal a great deal of money and throw the baby out with the bath water. Rick Scott intends to destroy lives, in the name of materialistic greed which pervades this state and nation. Rick Scott is a crook and I don’t take orders from a crook.

    Other news?

The Ed Show last night (10 pm, Feb. 9, 2011). OK, Ed, I am more moderate progressive so I can agree with you some time. I agree with you on your assessment of the fascist autocratic Republicans who sincerely believe we create jobs by reducing Federal expenditures AND reducing Federal income (wealthy tax cuts). I have always found Howard Dean and his organization to have the best explanations, but everyone pooh poohs it due to some type of narrow bigoted thinking. Dean (or Democracy) for America: “we believe we should be socially progressive and fiscally conservative.” For the record, the Republicans are not being “fiscally conservative,” but they convince a whole bunch of stupid Americans who listen to Fox News that is what the Republicans are. The Republican, in reducing the revenue stream AND decreasing expenses are FISCALLY WRECKLESS!

But Ed on the Ed Show. You are a talking head without substance. You proclaim your support of socialism. I am not a socialist, but if social programs provide a solution, then so be it. It’s not the ideology, but the solution.

Ed: you do nothing to convince the other side by demonstrating the negative qualities of liberals. Your statement about implenting your ideas and not caring “how much it costs” is as dumb as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh (the other side), the talking heads on Fox. You provide ammunition for those who might just be reasonable thinkers to wonder, “gee maybe liberals ARE “tax and spend liberals!” Sorry, but up to now, I have not thought of liberals in this way. I have looked at the solutions provided – and also recognize there is a problem (i.e., health insurance companies in this nation – sleazy scum who rip off people.). But I DO NOT endorse any solution with, “I don’t care how much it takes. I am a Howard Dean Democrat who believes in fiscal responsibility.

Ed: you spoke of the “success” of GM and Chrysler after the Obama bailout but you never backed it up with numbers. I have been an Obama supporter who has had a problem with the way the bailout was implemented to guys who had failed, rather than competitive “jousting” for the money from responsible, reliable, credible people who could make the “change” Obama proclaimed in 2008. Same old same old as Bush.

Ed: you reiterated once again (I have heard it over and over again) about how nasty the Republicans are with regard to the unemployed, yet giving money to the wealthy. So what else is new? I was once a member of the Republican Party. I KNOW they are nasty. I find a larger number of responsible people in the Democratic Party, but I am not in love with THAT party, either. What about numbers, Ed? What about the $800 B dollars of loss of a revenue stream (Republican side) while Obama only received $80 B in concessions – EXPENSES – for unemployment. No compromise there on the part of Obama and the numbers tell the story. Ed, you never mentioned this.

Why is it that the president never thought ahead and tried to tie that $800B dollar tax cuts for the wealthy to INVESTMENTS in high speed rail, housing, health, and education? Instead, the same old same old tax cuts – as with Georgy Porgy – and no strings attached. Now THERE would have been “CHANGE!” There would have been COMPROMISE. There would have been something different than what Georgy Porgy did.

Ed: Why did you ignore these things?
