Thought for the Day: 24 March 2026
“When a man gives up his moral values, there is nothing left.” A line from the series, M*A*S*H, spoken by a character named Col. Sherman T. Potter. He was replying to a soldier who was speaking about how his morality was that any person any human should not have sex outside of marriage. Col. Potter was encouraging the soldier because the soldier had to defend his morals against nasty and bullying fellow soldiers who claimed “he does not like girls.” The issue was not whether he liked girls. The question was his belief in procreative sex and how strong a feeling that was for him.
Kind of explains me when I was growing up. I relate to that soldier with morals. However, I do not believe I should force my moral beliefs upon others, just as bullies should not be forcing their IMMORAL beliefs upon others. I can TEACH others my moral beliefs. I should not PREACH my moral beliefs and values to others, just as homophobic bastards in churches should not PREACH their homophobic beliefs to others or PREACH their beliefs about whether clergy can only be straight men and women and LGBT+ should not be clergy.
Along those lines, it is not right to preach and judge humans with regard to recreational sex. If humans are unable to produce children, perhaps due to different reasons, they should be able to choose recreational sex. Such recreational sex may go along with a same-sex relationship. There should be no judgments made by human beings. Such people who do such judgments are evil, influenced by demons who promote a lack of confidence, and are influenced by the evil one some call Lucifer or the devil or Satan or…
Jesus Christ said, “judge not lest you be judged” (Gospel book of Matthew, chapter 7, verses 1-2). PREACHERS do too much f***ing judging of others. Those who do the judging anyway and use the “sin book” (Romans) are mixed up cowards who lack confidence about living our human lives together in community and society and living in an environment with peace and justice. Peace cannot happen without justice.

Chick-Fil-A & Thruway
Dear Gov. Hochul:
As a gay person in a same-sex marriage, I must speak out against the contract to Chick-Fil-A on the New York State Thruway. The thruway has a “captive audience” with drivers who travel on it. Drivers have no choice for choosing various places to eat because the drivers are not able to easily get off and back on again. Please consider the end of such a contract. Here are my reasons.
After protesting this, for some reason, I get subjected to mockery by stupid New Yorkers. For instance, someone mocks me with: “Chick-Fil-A has good food.” Did I say the food was not good? Who are the stupid ones who push such drivel in a taunting manner? Who pushes such crap and why do they continue on such a lousy path? As a diabetic, I never say the food at Chick-Fil-A is “bad.” It is a matter, as my dad would say about fried food, “I like it, but it does not like me.” When something drives up my glucose levels, I have to say that the food “does not like me.”
