The intent of this blog is to promote human equality, human progress, human peace and justice, and optimism. To accomplish this, to encourage the discussion of ideas after identifying and discovering problems, and then creating positive solutions for "we the people," in order to provide for the "general welfare" and "domestic tranquility" of America now and its "posterity" into the future. To encourage an emphasis on separation of religion and state for all, no matter if this is for those "of faith" in a Maker / Creator (Deists, God-loving people, Christians, various people of spirituality) and atheists or agnostics.

Are You Kidding Me?

Trump and Ire Against Racist DAs? Are you kidding me? (Tues., Feb. 8, 2022).

There are some of us who are not mentally deranged like Trump and have interfaced with both white and black racists, plus other types of bigots. No one pays attention to our wisdom of age, do they?

Trump is mentally ill. He thinks only colored people are racists but no racists exist within the white community. In fact, there are those who have written about his OWN white racism. So, the bastard is projecting his own feelings upon others. That is a mental illness and he needs to be put into a psychiatric unit and tied down.

Black racists might say they don’t want abortion because it’s important for their own race and don’t consider the human race. Trump wants to end abortion because he wants to preserve the white race. It is about time we simply put the human race first. Trump, the John Birchers, the KKK, and others say that only white lives matter. Black people who have faced many obstacles like lynchings and poll taxes to stop black people from voting (today, Republican gerrymandering in Florida to put white folks in office where Democrats outnumber Republicans) turn to Black Lives Matter. Can you blame them? Stupidity of Trump followers cast a blind eye to the fact that white lives HAVE ALWAYS mattered before black or indigenous folks or Latino/a folks.

Every time I mention that ALL LIVES MATTER, what do I get? The eyes of the listeners glazing over and ignoring this plea. Humans first. Race is not as important. Period.

Are you kidding us Trump? Of course he is.

President Biden and Afghanistan

If I were to write to President Biden.

Dear President Biden:
You have taken on a job with many tough responsibilities. I admire you for your ambition and forthrightness in attempting to set this nation on a better path towards democracy and regulated capitalism, with the intent to help the “great” David,” the underdog, in attempting to deal with the giant Goliath. It is not an easy job, but you appear to be up to the task.
When Donald Trump announced a timetable for departing Afghanistan, I felt uneasy about it. But to notice the many years we have been there – what, from George W. Bush forward/ – , prior to you taking office, and noticing that the Afghan government is so corrupt, it has a tough time gathering people to its side. Originally, I thought it absurd to go into Iraq when the real culprit was Afghanistan. It seems the president who concentrated on iraq had a beef with Hussein, due to his father, George H.W. Bush. Therefore, we lessened the involvement in Afghanistan at a time when we should have been the strongest there. It took the Obama Administration to apprehend the leader of the 9/11 crisis from wherever his bases were and that was NOT Iraq, as it turned out. The whole effort was mis-managed from the get-go and the Democratic Party administration had to pick up the pieces.

People seek peace. Donald Trump appeared to be more interested in a Nobel Peace prize than about being an effective leader. An effective leader in dealing with Afghanistan would have been, as Stacey Abrams of Georgia says, “we cannot have peace without justice.”  The justice part of Afghanistan was set aside, so therefore, there will be no peace.

Then , y President Biden, took office. You assumed the timetable set forth by Donald Trump and simply went forward with it, recognizing the failure of some 20 years in Afghanistan. It must have been a tough decision, so I respect you for dealing with this situation.

There are those who can bloviate all they wish to do about whether the decision was a correct one or whether the departure was handled correctly. Bottom line. There will never be peace without justice. America still has people who believe the 19th-century American civil war was only a battle settled at Appomattox Court House, not the end of a war. They believe they are victims because their status as white folks superior to black folks has been removed.  Even after that war ended in 1865 (according to an 1865 article in the New York Times), there were those from Dixie who launched a limited attack, in 1865, against New York City buildings, almost in the same manner as the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001. The plot was uncovered and the perpetrators fled up the Hudson River to Canada.

The plot was uncovered. Why was there a capability to uncover the plot in 1865, but not in 2001? What has happened?
As I have read a book by former Florida Governor and Senator, Robert Graham, I have noticed his discussion about the need for intelligence. I am not talking about mere human intelligence, although that is very necessary. I am talking, as Graham did in his book, about U.S. government intelligence. Perhaps you served with Senator Graham when he headed the Senate Intelligence Committee? I have had a chance to speak with the former senator and governor myself, as he visited our college in Florida and spoke to students in a political science classroom.  He actually does believe in human intelligence, too, as he discussed the topic of another book he wrote, about how we have allowed public education to degrade to the point of not teaching civics lessons which help our young people learn about democracy and how it works.  I agree with the former senator and governor, but wonder how much is being done on that front, too? Since Dr. Jill Biden also teaches at the type of college where I taught in Florida, perhaps she has some ideas?

It just so happens that former governor and senator, Bob Graham, belongs to the same denomination to which Barack Obama belongs. The same religious denomination to which I have been born, baptized, and raised in America.  I am not trying to sell this denomination or proselytize with it. I merely say this because the United Church of Christ (UCC) has a Peace and Justice group. More than that, in South Florida and in the same county where Donald Trump maintains his residency, I was involved in an ecumenical group, both Protestants and Roman Catholics, called Peace & Justice Ministries.  Thus, I feel the importance of peace and justice, not only in America, but in Afghanistan and other parts of the world where they care more about their own selfishness, greed, corruption, and culture and religion only, while the rest of the world, in the eyes of such people, should be damned. Women who speak out under Taliban rule, are hung. Men whose beards don’t measure up are beheaded. But does not some of these things also happen, though not to such extremes, in Saudi Arabia, where there is more money to help them keep such atrocities silent? The spoof on Hitler’s regime, written by a gay man, is the song, “Money Makes the World Go Around,” in the Broadway musical, Cabaret.  Love of money is an injustice, but are the American people too willing to accept it as a norm and not work to change it? Does that explain why, after 20 years, we allowed the corruption by the wealthy in Afghanistan to rule the government there?

We look to leaders to fix this. We should not expect perfection, but for good leaders with excellent efforts to succeed, to do a good job, and do so for the good of all the people, not just for the greed of one narcissist himself. We have put hope in your ability to be that leader to succeed in overcoming the obstacles we face. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it.

One final thought. In his 2007 book, Where Have All the Leaders Gone?, Lee Iacocca, a very good leader himself, offers some practical information, but we should not wrap our arms around only one person or one thing. That is the beauty of living in a democracy. Too many people have lost sight of that. But Iacocca himself comments about his visit to Saudi Arabia and the strict dictatorial reign which exists there.  Add to this the Ken Burns documentary about the Roosevelts, we have a discussion about how we lost leaders like Teddy Roosevelt when we began to use ritalin and other medications prolifically and it caused so many of our young people to pursue business other than something involved in leadership. Through the Leadership Development Program (LDP) created by a university in North Carolina and its Center for Creative Leadership, many of us (including John Edwards of North Carolina and others) were trained in the program. But where are those who were trained in the LDP?

I believe first in God my Creator. I believe in America. I believe in American democracy and the institutions, as imperfect as they may be (as Frank Sinatra said in 1974). I believe in regulated capitalism, as does Joe Scarborough of MSNBC’s Morning Joe (see 2005 Fortune Magazine article Mr. Scarborough wrote; same year my only academic article in International Journal of Learning was published).

The Roosevelts, both Teddy and FDR, were wealthy and had the forces to destroy bring down the corruption and the KKK influences in New York state. They took on the Boss Tweeds of the world. The claim is always made about FDR that he was “too far left” or “liberal” or even a “socialist’ or “communist.” Borrowing the word of a former high school English teacher, I say that kind of stuff is all “balderdash!” Or, she would say, “that’s “bloody bad.” FDR, too, looked for justice before there could be peace. But he was constantly at odds with Republicans over the practicality of doing so. Then again, there were many powerful Republicans who supported Hitler and the fascists. With fascism looking down at us, we cannot have peace without justice because fascism will destroy the means to achieve justice: democracy and regulated capitalism.

Mary Trump recently wrote that the Democratic Party is the one mechanism which exists to uphold democracy and the values associated with being a democratic nation. Next time I hear someone proclaim that “Democrats and Republicans are all bad,” I am going to throw Mary Trump’s comments in their face.  Then again, there are still some good Republicans, but I have to ask the question, “where have all the leaders [of the Republican Party] gone?” Certainly, with the Republican movement for destroying voting rights, we seem to have a leadership in that party named Jim Crow.
Justice and peace. For America. For Afghanistan. For the world.
P.S. We also need wealthy people like 19th Century tycoon, Andrew Carnegie, who purportedly once said, “wealth is created by society and people, not by individuals.”

Brash, Blunt, & Brave: Trying to Reveal the Sickness of False Groupspeak

I have always had little respect for Donald Trump from many years ago. But I did not have hatred or wish to help on any witch hunt. Donald Trump creates the notion of witch hunts against him because he is insecure. Any dictator is insecure and unable to take opposition. Such dictators and autocratic evil ones with a love of money over human beings are not welcome in an American democracy. Period.

I have been brash, blunt, and brave in writing on Facebook and other social technology without moderators and asking that those who speak out by making a claim that President Biden is to blame for employers not able to find employees because they are encouraged to be lazy and not work. After all, with an unemployment check, the notion is, Americans would rather take that money than to work.

I have written with the brash and blunt words like this: those who believe President Biden is at fault due to unemployment checks just shut up. I shall repeat it. Those who speak this false groupspeak (and other false groupspeak) shut up. You don’t know what you are saying.

THINK. THINK. THINK. It is an important word for the people of America because so many have lost this ability to delve into questions in more detail than what is given to us by sensationalist biased journalism at Fox News or other sources. They don’t check the facts. Even Norah O’Donnell is quick to throw out sensationalist 10 second sound bites and leave everyone in the lurch so as to make conclusions which are often false. For instance, the other night it was a short stab at the Democratic Party primary in New York City so we were all left scratching our heads. Those who don’t like the Democrats could just say, “see, I told you so.” Or else heighten false information in groupspeak which proclaims, “fraud,” when there is no fraud. WHAT? That you hate some Americans? The news of that primary also left those who might go along with Democrats scratching their heads and becoming disenfranchised about voting. Why? Based on a lack of evidence, so therefore, disappointment sets in? I have observed the strategy to disenfranchise voters in Florida for more than two decades now. Scoff at me, why don’t you, as if I have no brains when I observe and THINK, THINK, THINK, rather than rush to conclusions which might be wrong.

If one were to read unemployment figures over the past few months, one would see they have begun a decline. So much for the conclusion that so many people love that unemployment check and don’t wish to work. If so, then how can President Biden be blamed? Only if one hates him, has a bias against him, and then looks for the cherry-picking fodder to soothe and massage their egos with false information and hatred. It makes insecure people feel better if they can shoot another person down and prove the person doing this is a better one.

For instance. A healthcare worker was so uninformed about what is actually happening she told me this. “Obamacare has been destroyed.” My reply? “You missed the announcement the other night when the Supreme Court, by a vote of 7-2, voted to sustain Obamacare. I won’t go into the details, just the results. This was how many times that Obamacare has been upheld? But some young healthcare worker is so enamored in Facebook or Twitter (plus others), she never listens to news sources which report the news and don’t bloviate their bias. Nor does she read in-depth articles found in what we call newspapers, but which are actually news and information papers. These newspapers do not provide only biased opinions, but provide a variety of opinions for people to learn and not sit on their buttes like a bunch of vegetables and take in what is being told to them.

Social media is not social media. It is social technology for which the only thing gained by those who run this technology is not to be concerned about the content and whether it is accurate or contains examples of hatred. It is their love of materialism and love of money which moves these people from the depths of the 1% which own most all the resources in this nation. Period. Yes, such autocrats, plutocrats, and oligarchs of fat cats don’t care about the content, so they are nothing but overpaid lazy bums who take jobs away from people. President Joe Biden is not like that, so I detest those who come up with false conclusions about him. I thus become brash and blunt and say: “shut up if you cannot prove it to be true what you are saying.” Facebook, Twitter, and others are social technology, stupid, not social media. The media is being destroyed in the process of upholding these lainbrained excuses for “media.”

Another possible reason for the lack of people doing the work is related to capitalism and the need to make more money. With jobs scarce during the COVID-19, many people were home and doing nothing. When things opened up again, the hard-working people tried to grab first at the better paying with better benefits jobs. If one was not quick enough to act and then still found the availability of jobs at a low ebb, then they figured, why should they give up a check and go back to low wages and rare or non-existent benefits? When they hear that many of the billionaires, including Trump, are not paying their fair share of taxes, what the hell would inspire them to give up an unemployment check and go back to such crap? Joe Biden is not at fault for that because he is not a billionaire. Capitalism means competition for jobs. When supply of jobs is low and the demand is high, those with quick minds and merit will often get them first. Or so we hope this happens. As unemployment continues to decline and a limit is placed on accepting such checks, especially if one has the possibility for a job, then the hierarchy will be established and those at the bottom of the “trickle-down” will fill the voids which have been created.

In all of this, I find it disgusting to hear groupspeak repeated on the basis of a hatred for Democrats and/or President Biden when there is no evidence to prove it. But will what I write make a change in America? Not certain. But my Scottish family motto is this. “As I breathe, I hope.”

Three-penny Op-ed: Scum of the Earth

To the person on the Broome County line on New York State Route 38B, for shame on you. Shameful scum of the earth. People tell me if I do a similar thing as what this person (or persons) does, I am stooping to a very low level of society.

What am I talking about?

Look along Route 38B and see for yourself. A nice looking house, not a mobile home, with what appears to be vehicles I could never afford and a banner hanging from the front of the house. What is on the banner? Words. “F**k Biden.”

At one time, I was so angry at Trump that I may have written those words about Trump. Here’s the thing. I thank God that I had fellow Christians who told me, saying such things is lowering yourself to the same low level as Trump and his followers. Indirectly, they told me I was a sinner for doing such a thing because it was handing hatred back at a person. That goes against what Jesus Christ demonstrated for human beings.

Perhaps this guy is an atheist, so preaching would be out of order. However, I have to say this. In the Bible book of Romans, there are words such as this: “the one who abstains passes judgment…” and that is wrong. In other words, it was talking about someone who felt that one should abstain in eating something or drinking alcohol or smoking or taking illegal drugs or prostituting oneself or promiscuous sex or abortion…. (etc., etc., etc.). All such people should not pass judgment on those who do NOT abstain. As a Christian, this, too, means a great deal to me when other Christians work to help me understand that it is wrong to say, “f**k Trump” because it goes against the ideas of, “what would Jesus do?” The answer? He prayed to God with, “Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.” He prayed this prayer as the filthy lousy wealthy lawyers and religious leaders of his day were passing judgment on Jesus.

As an educator, I also recognize that those who are not as informed and resort to such bizarre vulgar epitaphs hurled at people. People without the ability to identify TRUE problems, provide solutions besides hatred and gunning down one another, differentiate between evil and good on the basis of TRUE facts and evidence are those for whom need to learn. Educators, without the use of corporal punishment in the classroom, need to humble without humiliation, before LEARNING and WISDOM can take place. Lack of confidence in oneself leads to grasping at something indicating a CERTAINTY in ones life and ignoring an attempt to gain wisdom.

So, I sinned when I used the words, “F**k Trump.” Good and TRUE Christians help us to humble ourselves before GOD and LEARN, thus gain knowledge and wisdom. I got down in the same gutter where Trump lovers are, just to reply to the bad leadership, criminality (the way he treated his employees, tax evasion, and loan payoff evasion, and in general, the bad way he treated other human beings) of Trump and the disgust felt when noticing there were so many people who were unable to differentiate between the bad and the good. I actually am not sure I can see ANYTHING good in Trump and his followers, except egotistical narcissistic bigotry attitudes with selfishness and greed and love of money.

That person appears, on the surface, to have more finances than I have. But do I know this? No, I don’t. It is mere speculation. I just don’t understand those like this person, even as I try to find common ground with such imbeciles, as to why they moan and groan as if they are victims in this life of something which is called a Democrat, never proving WHY they are such “victims,” and never appreciating that the life they have is because of this great democracy we have had over many years which would include both Democrats and Republicans; both liberal and conservative. I hate to say this, but many of these people are dumb, stupid, arrogant, belligerent, snotty Baby Boomers. Maybe this person whom I speak about is not such a person. I would wager that my speculation about this is correct.

At least this person is not living in a mobile home where the Confederate battle flag is flying and the banner just has a middle finger pointing at anyone who walks or drives by the place. Once living in a mobile home myself and a friend teasing me about being “trailer trash,” I now have to laugh at that. But people don’t like me being stereotypical as I recognize that such people with their traitorous Confederate battle flag and a middle finger pointing at ALL Americans are “white trailer trash.” I guess, with this guy living in a nice home, together with the white supremacist I knew in Florida who lives in a very expensive nice home which I could never afford, helps me think that I am also wrong in just hurling out humorous words which a friend of mine shared about ME.

One thing is certain. In my attempts to find common ground with people like this imbecile on 38B, I have NEVER found common ground when it comes to coexistence between human beings, whether it’s the color of the skin, the star of David, Muslims, Hindus, sexual identity, or anything else. I have found some common ground. One such example was once living in a mobile home in Florida. Alas. My neighbors there all had different colors of skin, practiced different religions, and had different sexual identities. I could not say, “white trailer trash,” but I could be identified as simply being “trailer trash.”

I have heard that when there were the protests of the 1960s against the conflict in Vietnam that most of those protests were led by sons and daughters of wealthy Americans. They, too, lacked appreciation for what they had in life which many others did not have. In my mind, that conflict never should have been waged across the Pacific Ocean. But I did not protest it and worked for protecting American public education in various ways. I still work for protection of American public education, whether I am in opposition to Republican Jeb Bush of Florida or Andrew Cuomo of New York. I will always continue to defend public education, public broadcasting, and public health and hospitals (in opposition to a lousy U.S. senator from Florida named Rick Scott).

It takes peace away from my life as I face retribution from the cowards with the money who wish to force their LIBERAL changes to public education. I say liberal because they wish to abandon the CONSERVATIVE idea of public education which has made this nation great and have dreamed up a change – LIBERAL – to privatize it. These idiots fail to realize that, as with all human endeavors, there is human imperfection.

In this sense, we need to be, as Frank Sinatra once said, “having a good time” in fixing the problems here in our great IMPERFECT nation which Frank Sinatra called, “his home” (4th of July 1974, Madison Square Garden). Frank Sinatra became a Republican because he did not like how the Southern Democrats treated his black buddy, Sammy Davis, Jr. The descendants of those Democrats in the South are now Republicans and yield much power in the Republican Party. Too much power.

In contrast, Joe Biden selected the first African-American female to be his running mate. If this guy on 38B has a hatred for Joe Biden, it has to be that Biden abandoned his friendship with KKK member, Byrd, a now-deceased senator from West Virginia. After all, Joe Biden could not run in 2016 because of the death of his son, Bo Biden, who had worked closely with Kamala Harris. President Biden did not win due to fraud. If that is the case, then fraud also helped elect one-party Republican state legislatures (like one-party communist nations) in Georgia, Florida, and other Dixie states. President Biden and the Democrats have made attempts to reach across the aisle to Republicans but have found no compromising. One example is the stimulus package. The Democrats did re-think the idea of an across-the-board minimum wage, but as they worked to reduce the level of money they wanted, so as to obtain compromise, the Republicans refused to budge to compromise one single iota. The Republicans, in this manner, are acting like communists who expect no criticism and if you cannot vote the way they want, then you are too “partisan.” That is a crock from the Republicans. I am a Democrat-Republican who looks for rationality, reasonableness, and sensible American teamwork. I damn the existence of “blue” and “red.” The American flag has “red, white, blue and… yellow fringe” (words from “Don’t Put it Down” lyrics in the rock musical, Hair). America is great under one flag only and consists of stars and stripes, not stars and bars (with an emphasis on the red). Only Joe Biden has said he wants to do this. If anyone listened to him speak at the Democratic Party convention, they would have heard such words. Trump only spoke about his narcissistic egotistical self. Only Joe Biden has talked about helping to be cognizant of needs at the local level. That might be ambiguous, but one never heard Trump say anything like that, unless it means he wanted local states’ rights involving the power and control by white supremacists like the Proud Boys. So many of us at the local level are subjected to centralized power control by big corporations and their supply-side economics. I can repeat many such examples today – right now (i.e., Gannett closing its offices for local newspapers such as the Press & Sun-Bulletin with its “USA Today” network which smacks of Moscow Pravda under the communists. A centrally controlled propaganda machine, as Fox News is the same type of thing.

I can provide numerous other examples of customer service being centrally located in big corporations serving the Binghamton area and screwing the demand side of a capitalist market. I can explain and prove such actions are primarily due to cronies and friends of Trumpicans at the highest levels of these corporations who make this happen.

Meanwhile, we at the local levels can be damned like we are chopped liver. Government is NOT the problem. The ONLY person who has expressed any hope for change in this area is President Joe Biden, not Donald Trump. Shame on you if you have a belief like this and perhaps this is because you listen intently to Propaganda Fox News?

Government was NOT the problem when Republican Teddy Roosevelt, known as the “trust buster” and others helped put in place regulations which put Americans in legal problems should they work to deliberately destroy capitalist competition. Who uses the word, “destroy” today? How many times has Donald Trump used the word, “destroy?” He used it against the Republican Mitt Romney inspired healthcare system called Obamacare, yet wimpy Romney supports Trump and other Republicans in the U.S. Senate. It just happens that IBM founder, Thomas J. Watson, before starting IBM, worked for NCR where his duty was to DESTROY THE COMPETITION, like a bunch of vicious lousy gladiators from the Roman Empire who DESTROYED Christians. Watson and others were brought up on charges against the acts of destruction of competition. The government was regulating the capitalist economic system, opposed to the centrally planned supply side economic system which is similar to the running of central businesses in the communist Kremlin. Yes, Watson went on and established a very successful corporation.

Perhaps Watson at IBM still used what he learned at NCR to destroy competition with IBM? I won’t comment on that, but I do have evidence that IBM did such a thing and that eventually created a slothful corporation. Ultimately, after destroying many businesses and lives, like gladiators in Rome, the company imploded from within itself. Today we have no IBM in the village where it was created because it moved to the white supremacist South and sent its manufacturing facilities overseas. Fighting the destruction of capitalist competition was NOT the government. The problem has been with snotty ruthless business people who get graded as being successful by the wrong assessment: love of money which is evil. Ray Kroc is another one. There are others, too.

I can continue and go on and on with much more to say. But it does nothing to impart knowledge and wisdom to people. I suppose wealthy ones just wish to brush me off as being stupid and having nothing to add to the conversation. That is because they think they are the only smart ones because they have money. To which I say, as we often said in the U.S. Air Force: you proclaim you are experts, but you are drips under pressure. To such people I also say, shame on you bastards.

To the one with the “f**k Biden” sign on 38B, I say: shame on you bastard. You help destroy what is good about America by throwing out the baby with the dirty bathwater. Expectations of perfection, you sicko lousy people. Notice I don’t say, “f**k you.” And I won’t either. Such people are merely scum of the earth and I don’t want to get down into the gutter with such scum.

Seeking peace, but peace cannot be achieved without justice. And I am not referring to justice based on the perspective of hate for fellow human beings and lousy unappreciative attitudes for the lives which we have all attained. I am blessed, even if I don’t have as much as some of the wealthy ones who consider me stupid. However, I stand up to protect the lousy American healthcare system which Trump described as “private” healthcare. I have evidence that it would be better, for me, as a diabetic, in Canada. But I am blocked from doing so. I am mocked and patronized by the stupidos who defend the wealthy and the lousy American healthcare system.

Once again, I seek peace, but cannot attain peace unless justice is achieved. So I am pushed into a contentious mode which caused me to one time say words for which my fellow Christians may have thought of me as a “sinner” because I used the “f**k” word, as did this idiot on 38B. But you see, once a person acknowledges the mistake, then there is forgiveness, according to Jesus Christ. And it is not up to (the book of Romans) humans to render a judgment.
